European training network for development of personalized anti-infective medical devices combining printing technologies and antimicrobial functionality

Jesús Augusto Vázquez Rodríguez received his Bsci in Genomic Biotechnology from the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León(Mexico) 2013. He continued for a M.Sc. in Applied Microbiology and graduated 2017. His Masters project resulted in a publication in PLoS ONE. During his studies he took several internships at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. He has received several awards and scholarships and volunteered to work as staff organizing committees for the International Congress of Biotechnology and Genomic 2009, and for the 11th Latin American Conference of Clinical Research, Mexico 2014.

The main objective of Augustos project is the development and characterization of novel 3D-printed implants, which are formulated with Biofilm Inhibitors to protect against Staphylococcus spp. infections. The activity of such implants will be evaluated using different in-vitro assays. The implants presenting the most promising activity will be further analyzed in mouse models.
